Exports of cheese and cottage cheese from Kyrgyzstan fell by 34% in January-August

According to the National Statistical Committee, exports of cheese and cottage cheese from Kyrgyzstan in January-August 2026 fell by 34% compared with the same period last year. The most notable decline was recorded in shipments to Russia, while Kazakhstan retained its status as the main buyer, increasing imports by 20.3%.

Total exports of cheese and cottage cheese from Kyrgyzstan in January-August 2026 amounted to $5.21 million. That is 34% less than in the same period last year, when exports reached $7.89 million.

Dynamics of cheese and cottage cheese exports by importing country

Shipments to Russia fell 15.6-fold to $243 thousand. In volume terms, exports to Russia fell 14.2-fold to 80 tonnes.
Kazakhstan remained the main buyer, receiving $4.22 million worth of cheese and cottage cheese. That is 20.3% more than a year earlier, although shipments in tonnes fell by 16.4% to 1.16 thousand tonnes.
Exports to Uzbekistan showed growth of 10.1%, reaching $653 thousand.
