Privacy policy

Version of 21 October 2026.

This policy explains what personal data the news.kg website, the other websites of the network and the News.KG mobile app (together, the Service) process, why, who receives it, how long it is kept and how to delete it. By using the Service you confirm that you have read this policy.

Who processes the data

Personal data controller: KAIMAK DIDZHITAL, OSOO (Kaymak Digital LLC), TIN 02702201910454, reg. No. 181158-3301-OOO, 98 Toktogul St., Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. Personal data requests: [email protected].

Account and sign-in

Email address — to sign in with a one-time code and to send service emails.
Phone number, plus your Telegram ID, username and name — if you sign in with Telegram or turn on notifications there.
Name and email address from your Apple ID or Google account (for Google, also the profile photo) — if you sign in with them. Access tokens are stored encrypted and are only needed to revoke access when you delete your account.
Session token — to keep you signed in: in the app it is kept in the device’s secure storage, on the website in a cookie.

Device and notifications

The device push token and your notification settings — only if you allow notifications.
On the website — a browser notification subscription, if you turned it on.
A random device identifier created by the app or the website (not an advertising identifier) — so that guests can react to articles and vote in polls once.
IP address — to protect against abuse and to rate-limit requests. Poll votes do not store the address itself, only an irreversibly transformed value from which the address cannot be recovered.

Location

Approximate location — only for the weather in the app, if you allow location access: coordinates are rounded to about a kilometre and are not stored.
The place of a petition — if you enter it when creating a petition; the address can be detected from the browser’s location.
Precise location — only if you add the place of an event to a People’s Reporter submission yourself.

What you publish and how you use the Service

Comments, reactions, saved articles, topic and company subscriptions, reviews of companies and products, details of companies you suggest adding.
Petitions: text, photos and videos, the place and a contact phone number for the newsroom (the phone number is not published). The name and profile photo of a petition’s author and of commenters are visible to everyone; if you sign a petition with a comment, your name, profile photo and the region and city you entered are shown next to it.
Poll answers. Answers in election polls may reveal your political views: taking part is voluntary, other users only see aggregated results, and answers of signed-in users are linked to their account.
Article views — for recommendations, the popular section and statistics.
Applications for financial products (for example, a loan or a deposit): the name and phone number you enter become available to the chosen bank or company — at your request and with your consent.
Questions you ask the AI about an article and texts you ask the AI to prepare (for example, a petition draft).

People’s Reporter

Photos and videos (with sound), a description, the time and place of the event. File metadata (shooting coordinates, device model, time) is removed automatically.
If a submission is not anonymous — your name, phone number and an additional contact so the newsroom can reach you. Contacts are not stored for anonymous submissions.
Payout details for rewards are stored encrypted; only the newsroom staff who make the payout can see them in full.

Purchases

In the app, subscriptions are purchased through the App Store or Google Play: the store tells us about the subscription (plan, term, purchase ID) but not your card details.
On the website, subscriptions are paid through a payment service: card details are entered on its side, and we only receive the payment result.

Advertising

We show advertising in the Service ourselves. Impressions and clicks are counted without linking them to an account, device or IP address. The app does not use device advertising identifiers and does not track users across other companies’ apps and websites.

Website: cookies, statistics, errors

Cookies are needed to keep you signed in, save your settings and count free listens and summaries.
The website uses web analytics services: visit statistics with cookies, including recording of actions on pages (scrolling, clicks, pointer movements). They are not used in the app.
Information about technical errors (page address, browser, error text) is sent to a technical diagnostics service.

Why we process the data

To make the Service work: sign-in, comments, petitions, polls, notifications, weather, People’s Reporter and reward payouts.
To recommend articles and understand what people read: recommendations and anonymised statistics.
To protect the Service and its users from spam, vote manipulation and abuse.
To comply with the law, including financial record-keeping.

Processing with AI

Questions you ask the AI about an article, texts you ask the AI to prepare, comments (for automatic spam and abuse checks and for a short summary of the discussion) and details of companies you suggest adding are processed by artificial intelligence models — including at third-party providers, which process this data on our behalf only to return an answer or a check result.

Who receives the data

Contractors who keep the website and the app running: hosting, file storage, content delivery, email delivery.
Payment services — when you pay for a subscription.
Sign-in and notification services — if you use them.
Analytics and technical diagnostics services.
Artificial intelligence providers — see the section above.
Banks and companies — only the applications you send them yourself.

Contractors process the data on our behalf and only for the stated purposes. Data may be processed on servers outside the Kyrgyz Republic with appropriate safeguards.

We do not sell personal data and do not share it for third-party advertising. Data may be disclosed at the lawful request of public authorities.

Embedded content from other services

Articles may contain embedded video players and social media posts, and the website may show weather data from an external service. We copy source images to our own storage, but if copying fails the image is loaded from the source’s website. When such elements are shown, your device connects to these services directly, and they receive your IP address and technical information about your browser or device under their own rules.

How long we keep data

Your account and the content you create — as long as the account exists.
Sessions — until you sign out or the session expires.
People’s Reporter submissions, contacts and payout details — as long as the account exists.
Payment records — in anonymised form, for the period required by financial record-keeping: 5 years.
Guest poll answers — until the results of the “Elections 2027” special project are final, then they are deleted.
Technical logs — no longer than a few weeks.

Your rights

You can find out what data we process about you, correct it, withdraw your consent, turn off notifications in the device or app settings and delete your account. For personal data questions write to [email protected]; we will reply within the time required by law.

Deleting your account

In the app: Profile → “Delete account”. On the website: profile → “Delete account”; the procedure is described at https://news.kg/ru/about/delete-account. Your account and sign-in methods, comments, reactions, saved items, subscriptions, petitions and signatures, reviews, People’s Reporter submissions with their files, contacts and payout details, and the poll answers you gave while signed in are deleted. Payment records remain in anonymised form. An App Store or Google Play subscription is not cancelled when you delete your account — cancel it in the store settings.

Security

Data is transferred only over an encrypted connection. Payout details and access tokens are stored encrypted, and staff access to data is limited to their tasks.

Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13, or under 16 in countries where the law sets a higher age of consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect their data; if we learn of such data, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

A new version is published on this page with its date. We will announce significant changes in the Service.
