According to endocrinologist Polina Luchkina, the number of people with diabetes mellitus in Kyrgyzstan continues to grow. At the end of 2025, the figure stood at about 90,000 people, but it has now reached 92,200 patients.
Distribution of diabetes by type and characteristics of the disease
Most patients with diabetes have type 2 of the disease. An estimated 88,000 people in Kyrgyzstan belong to this group. Type 1 diabetes has been diagnosed in about 2,500 patients. Separately, about 1,000 cases of gestational diabetes are noted — a form that develops in women during pregnancy due to a hormonal imbalance.

Experts emphasize that the true scale of the problem may be higher than the reported figures, since official statistics cover only those people who sought medical care and were diagnosed.
