More than six months have passed since President Sadyr Japarov ordered that the issue of providing housing for children mass-infected with HIV in hospitals in Osh region be examined. However, according to a resident of Nookat district, no progress has been made in that time.

The Housing Problem and Appeals to the Authorities

Initially, the mothers of the children affected by the infections appealed to the head of state with a request to resolve the housing issue. As a result, the president instructed the Ministry of Health and the akim of Nookat district to address the problem. During the discussions, the possibility of providing housing on preferential terms through mortgages was considered.

More than six months have passed since then. During this time we have appealed to the Ministry of Health six times, but there is no result

According to the mother, the parents of the affected children plan to unite again and appeal to the president, the speaker and the akylkachy in Bishkek. She stressed that 20 years have already passed since the HIV infections.

The Current Situation and Previous Statements

Earlier, in June, Deputy Health Minister Gulbara Ishenapysova said that about 50 families whose children were infected with HIV in hospitals are to be provided with apartments under the program.

Speaking out, the mother noted that because of the state's mistake they have to face the consequences of the infection for the rest of their lives, and she believes that the lack of support is an injustice.
