Aaly Tokombaev

Biography

Aaly Tokmobaev was a Soviet Kyrgyz writer and poet. He graduated from the Central Asian Communist University in Tashkent in 1927. Early in his career, he worked as an editor, notably serving as the editor of the Kyrgyz section of TsentrIzdat in Moscow from 1929 to 1930. From 1932 to 1934, he was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Writers' Union of the Kirgh SSR, and later from 1934 to 1937, he was the Chairman of the Board of the Kyrgyz SSR Writers' Union. During the period from 1939 to 1949, he continued his work as the Chairman of the Board of the Kyrgyz SSR Writers' Union. For his work, he was awarded the title of People's Poet of Kyrgyzstan and Hero of Socialist Labor.
