Legislation has introduced a provision under which part of the profits of small hydropower plants will be directed to local self-governments. The change is intended to serve as an incentive for local communities and to affect employment during the construction of such facilities.
Deputy General Director of Chakan GES OJSC said that two hydropower plants in Talas region — Urmaral HPP and Baaryn HPP — are planned to be commissioned no later than the end of 2026. It was confirmed that the documents for Urmaral HPP have been completed, and the work on Baaryn HPP has been finished.
