Amid an increase in online fraud and theft of funds from bank accounts, 52 criminal cases have already been opened in Osh. They concern individuals who deliberately transferred or sold electronic payment means, virtual asset wallets and SIM cards to third parties.
Criminal liability for digital transactions
According to Bekzhan Berdibekov, a senior prosecutor at the Osh city prosecutor's office, amendments were made to the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic in July 2025. The amendments supplemented Article 209-1, which now provides for liability for the deliberate transfer or sale of these digital assets to third parties.
As a result of the investigative actions, the accused voluntarily compensated the victims for the damage caused. Following reconciliation of the parties, 25 criminal cases were terminated, and another 16 cases were sent to court for consideration. Investigative actions continue in the remaining cases.
What follows from the situation
The Osh city prosecutor's office continues its work to thoroughly investigate each case and urges citizens to be vigilant in the area of digital transactions.
