The 38-year-old UFC fighter Conor McGregor has once again said he intends to end his professional career. He made the announcement on his X social media page, saying his upcoming fight will be his last.

On his plans and past performances

McGregor stressed that fights featuring him traditionally outperform those of other athletes in box office revenue, even though he himself "makes no effort at all" for it.

My last fight was on at the same time as the World Cup semifinal, and I still put up numbers in that stupid fight. Next time, in my last fight, I'll try to sell the fight properly. We'll see what numbers I can achieve

The fighter had already announced his retirement several times before, in particular in 2016 and 2019, but each time he returned to the ring.

Recent developments in the UFC

In July, Conor McGregor fought his first UFC bout in five years. The fight against American Max Holloway ended in defeat for the Irishman, who injured his leg while attempting a strike. Holloway won by technical knockout.
