According to Emilbek Orozbaev, director of the Green Energy Fund, construction of the wind power plant, which will be located near the entrance to the city of Balykchy on a 200-hectare mountain site, will begin within that timeframe.
Project details and implementation stages
According to Orozbaev, land-related issues have largely been resolved. However, the start of construction depends directly on resolving the issue of connecting the facility to the power grid. At present, 8 units of equipment have already been delivered to and are being stored in a warehouse in Balykchy.
Key aspects of the project
The project is being implemented by Rosatom Corporation. Earlier, in September 2024, a capsule for the construction of a wind power plant near the village of Kok-Moinok in Ton district of Issyk-Kul region was laid by Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk. According to information available from the Cabinet of Ministers, the investment project envisaged the construction of a 100 MW wind power plant with a planned annual output of 290 million kilowatt-hours, and the Cabinet estimated the construction period at 12 months.
According to the head of the Green Energy Fund, construction is preliminarily estimated to be completed by the end of next year.
