The country's Ministry of Industry and Construction has approved changes to the rules for importing vehicles for personal use. Car owners will now be banned from importing cars that are older than five years or do not meet the Euro-5 environmental class.

Growth in local car production as the basis for the changes

The introduction of these restrictions comes amid an increase in car production in Kazakhstan. According to the source, between January and September 2026, 136,500 cars were assembled in the country.

This figure indicates growth in the sector, as the volume of cars assembled in the period exceeded the previous year's figure by 38%.
