Political scientist Ainur Kurmanov explained that Europe's full abandonment of Russian gas remains a difficult issue for now because of insufficient volumes of alternative fuel. According to him, US gas will not be enough to cover all the region's needs.
Continued purchases and consequences for citizens
Despite public statements about intending to abandon Russian gas, Kurmanov points out that some European countries continue to make purchases. As a result of this policy, the costs fall on the shoulders of ordinary citizens, which is reflected in rising gas and electricity bills, making housing more expensive to maintain.
At the same time, despite statements about abandoning Russian gas, some European countries continue to buy it," the political scientist notes.
While the United States is increasing its gas supplies to Europe, this also brings additional benefits to the supplier country itself.
