Kyrgyzstan's State Tax Service warns that scammers may pose as tax service employees in order to obtain money or citizens' personal data.
How scammers operate and what to do if you receive such a message
Scammers may contact people by phone or via messengers, claiming there is an alleged debt or fine. They may demand immediate payment and even send fake letters on behalf of the Tax Service with QR codes for payment.
How to verify information about debt
If you are told about allegedly unfulfilled tax obligations or debt and are threatened with various sanctions, you must stay calm and not comply with the demands immediately. Information should be verified through the Taxpayer's Cabinet or by contacting the tax authority directly. You can also call the Tax Service at the numbers listed on the official website sti.gov.kg in the "Contacts" section.
