In 2025, financing of about $500 million is earmarked for the development of Kyrgyzstan's road infrastructure. Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Mederbek Tumanov announced this on November 4 at the SPECA Economic Forum in Bishkek. According to Tumanov, the allocation of such funds underscores the priority importance of the transport sector for the country's economy.
Key projects and logistics integration
As part of developing the country's transport potential, work has begun on several major facilities. The first 63 km section of the Balykchy—Kochkor railway was officially opened and the new Kochkor railway station was put into operation on July 25, 2026.
In addition, construction has begun on the Barskoon—Bedel—Uchturfan highway with a total length of 150 km. This road is intended to strengthen trade and economic ties with China and expand transport connectivity. The deputy minister also noted the start of construction of the China—Kyrgyzstan—Uzbekistan railway.
Integration into international logistics systems
Kyrgyzstan is actively working to create a unified transport and logistics system linking China, Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Europe. In this regard, measures have been taken to develop maritime shipping, including the adoption of a Merchant Shipping Code. In 2024, Kyrgyzstan also became a member of the International Maritime Organization, and agreements were reached on the use of the maritime port infrastructure of partner states.
According to the Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, Kyrgyzstan's air carriers have been removed from the aviation safety list.
