The issue of potentially stripping Armenia of its voting rights in the CSTO may be raised at the upcoming meeting of the Collective Security Council (CSTB). According to the 'Kontekst' Telegram channel, the decision may be related to the country's financial obligations to the organization.

Technical Aspect and Deadlines

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin explained that the situation is technical in nature and is provided for by the organization's charter. According to him, Armenia has not paid membership dues for more than two years.

"Armenia has not paid dues for more than two years, so the issue may well be considered and a decision made on the temporary suspension of its membership—more precisely, the loss of voting rights until the dues are paid. This is an absolutely technical matter provided for by the charter, specifically a certain article of it."
Alexander Pankin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia

The consideration of this issue is scheduled for November 11 in Moscow. The final decision will depend on the president's position.

Yerevan's Position

Alongside financial issues, statements regarding political distancing are being made. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reported that the country's interests within the organization have been exhausted.

"I want to state once and for all: our interests related to the CSTO have dried up. We no longer have interests related to the CSTO."
Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia
