According to the Interior Ministry, law enforcement uncovered a scheme for the illegal importation of narcotic and psychotropic substances from the United States for subsequent sale in Kyrgyzstan. The suspect, a Kyrgyz national, was extradited to his homeland with the assistance of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the National Central Bureau of Interpol of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry.

How the smuggling channel was organized

It was established that citizen Kh.T., who was temporarily residing in the United States, organized a channel for supplying narcotic and psychotropic substances out of mercenary motives. The unlawful activity related to drug trafficking was carried out with the participation of members of an organized drug group.

Mechanism of the illegal importation

According to case materials, the suspect purchased marijuana (in the form of dried buds) and psychotropic substances in the United States. These substances were disguised as ordinary consumer goods and sent to Kyrgyzstan through international mail shipments registered in the names of acquaintances.

Consequences of the activity

The recipients of these parcels, enlisting third parties, organized the illegal sale of narcotics both in Bishkek and in Chui region. Thus, a transnational drug trafficking scheme was uncovered that included smuggling from the United States.

The unlawful activity uncovered by law enforcement spans the period from early 2024.
