To monitor the condition of livestock and assess the effectiveness of the free vaccines that the veterinary service provides to farmers, specialists conduct laboratory tests. As Maksat Akhmedzhanov, a senior researcher at the laboratory of virology and biotechnology of the Duysheyev Kyrgyz Research Veterinary Institute, said, blood serum samples are taken from animals after vaccination.
Assessment methodology and areas of research
An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay is carried out, which makes it possible to determine the presence of specific antibodies in the blood. If the expected antibody level is not detected, the institute passes this information to the veterinary service. The data obtained are used to assess the overall effectiveness of vaccination and to further prepare recommendations on the use of the medicines. Akhmedzhanov noted that the research is aimed at preventing the spread of diseases and the economic damage associated with it.
Main diseases under control
- Brucellosis
- Parasitic diseases, including echinococcosis and alveolar echinococcosis
As part of the work, specialists are also developing methods of diagnosis and prevention. In addition, the Duysheyev Kyrgyz Research Veterinary Institute and Bashkir State Agrarian University have agreed to work together to study animal diseases and train personnel.
