Kumtor mine: open-pit operations to end by 2032, equipment to move to Jeti-Too

During a meeting with residents of the Talas region, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov revealed details of plans for the further development of the mining industry. Particular attention was paid to the Kumtor mine, where development began 31 years ago.

Plans for developing the deposits

According to the statement, open-pit operations at the Kumtor mine will end by 2032. After that date, the entire fleet of equipment used at Kumtor will be redirected to develop the Jeti-Too deposit.
