Anar Anarbaev, a resident of the Bakai-Ata district, reported the unlawful arrest of his mother, Takhmila Zhamankulova. According to him, the situation is linked to a loan taken out after she had been supplying gold jewelry from Turkey.
Circumstances of the gold and loan case
In 2024, Zhamankulova signed a contract to order 1.5 kg of gold. As security, the customer provided a power of attorney for her apartment and promised to settle the obligations within three months. After the gold was delivered, no payment followed. Five months later, the parties took out a loan to pay the Turkish supplier. The customer's apartment and two houses belonging to Zhamankulova's family were pledged as collateral.
According to Anarbaev, the loan funds were sent to Turkey to pay for the goods. His mother was charged with fraud and was detained by the Leninsky district police department. At the same time, the family has been repaying the loan on its own for two years.
Reaction of the authorities
During a meeting between President Sadyr Japarov and residents of Talas region, he ordered an investigation into the case. The president said: "If everything is as the complainant says, the mother should be released." First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Adylbek Biibosunov invited Anarbaev to a personal reception.
According to the president, the cost of 1.5 kg of gold is about $500 thousand.
