According to data announced on Sputnik radio, Kyrgyzstan has only 68 psychiatrists in total. Of the total number of specialists, 33 work in Bishkek.
Distribution of care and return of personnel
Nurgul Ibraeva, head of the medical care organization department at the Health Ministry, noted that previously work in state clinics did not attract young people, which was due to low salaries and the need to work with a difficult patient population. However, the situation is changing: after salaries were raised, specialists began returning to state clinics.
Where patients from different regions are referred
Depending on their region of residence, patients are referred to different medical facilities. Patients from southern regions are referred to the Kyzyl-Zhar clinic or a hospital in Osh. And those from northern districts are referred to Chym-Korgon or the Republican Center for Mental Health (RCMH) in Bishkek.
