Features of late-ripening watermelons and their storage

According to specialists, watermelons harvested in October have a higher sugar content compared with their summer counterparts. This is due to significant swings in day and night temperatures, which promote the accumulation of sugars. In addition, it is noted that during this period the risk of finding a nitrate-laden fruit is virtually excluded, since ripening occurs exclusively by natural means.

Kholodok watermelons and their hybrids are a late-ripening "October variety." It is valued because it can be stored in a cool place until New Year without losing its flavor qualities.
