Residents living in apartment buildings on Kalininskaya and Studencheskaya streets in Kara-Balty have been waiting for the central sewage system construction for two years. Until the project is implemented, approximately 200 people must independently pay for regular septic pumping.
Impact of Delays on Daily Life
The delay has led to overflowing sewage accumulators, causing wastewater to leak onto the roads and flood the area of the Kara-Balty meteorological station and neighboring yards. Due to the dampness and unpleasant odor, some families with young children have temporarily left their apartments.
Financial Burden
Community Response and Previous Measures
Residents have repeatedly sought assistance from the city council. Their concerns were addressed at the meeting of the permanent deputy commission on budget, municipal property, housing and communal services, and investments. While the mayor's office previously installed two additional septic tanks, each consisting of four concrete rings, this measure has only slowed the filling process and has not resolved the core issue.
According to residents, the problem has existed for many years, requiring the calling of a sewage truck almost every week because the septic tanks fill up too quickly. For many families, especially pensioners, these recurring expenses have become a serious financial strain.
