The First May District Court in Bishkek resumed the trial concerning the preparation for mass unrest. The proceedings involved several high-profile figures, including Kadyr Atambayev and Temirlan Sultanbekov.
Court Session Developments
During the session, an incident occurred, as reported by Kadyrbek Atambayev's lawyer, Sergey Slesarev. Atambayev reportedly stated that he was prevented from sending letters to his relatives. Furthermore, he declined to participate in the hearing without Temirlan Sultanbekov, who refused to appear in handcuffs. Following this, the court removed Kadyrbek Atambayev from the hall.
Background of the Case
The case revolves around the alleged preparation for mass protests following the early elections for deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament). Initially, all suspects were placed under arrest. Subsequently, Kubanychbek Kadyrov and Shailobek Atazov were moved to house arrest, while Damir Musakeev was released under a non-departure guarantee.
Previously, in late November 2025, several individuals were detained in connection with preparing for mass unrest. These included Kadyrbek Atambayev, Temirlan Sultanbekov, Ermek Ermatov, former Jogorku Kenesh deputies Kubanychbek Kadyrov and Shailobek Atazov, businessman Urmat Baryktabasov, and former body guard of Almazbek Atambayev, Damir Musakeev.
Legal Context
Materials related to Shailobek Atazov, Urmat Baryktabasov, and Damir Musakeev were later separated for individual proceedings in July.
