Cybertruck production will be gradually phased out in the coming years. According to the Context Telegram channel, the company plans to redirect resources toward scaling the production of the two-seater Cybercab robotaxi, which has already received permission for driverless operation.
Strategy Shift and New Goals
Tech industry CEO Elon Musk announced on the social network X that the decision to discontinue the pickup is due to the need to focus on autonomous vehicles. According to him, the Cybertruck will remain in the lineup for another eight or nine months, after which production will stop. Musk called the end of this model's production the "end of an era" and emphasized that the Cybertruck is the best vehicle Tesla has ever created.
"We will produce the Cybertruck for another eight or nine months, but then Tesla needs to focus on scaling the Cybercab. There will be no other vehicle like it."
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, this move signifies the company's transition from selling traditional automobiles to developing robotics and autonomous transport. Currently, the only facility equipped to produce this electric pickup is the factory in Austin.
