AK-ALA-TASH representatives explained that the choice of construction site and the snow cover patterns in the Issyk-Kul area are due to differences between the northern and southern mountain slopes.
Snow cover patterns and the resort's snowmaking technology
According to the project representatives, residents and tourists on the northern shore of the lake see primarily the southern slopes. These slopes, they say, lose snow cover faster under sunlight. Meanwhile, snow persists considerably longer on the northern slopes.
- snow lasts longer
- northern slopes
- start of snow retention
- late November
- end of snow retention
- mid-April
The project organizers also said that artificial snowmaking is a necessity to maintain the condition of the slopes and reduce dependence on weather conditions. Such technologies, the developers note, are already used at well-known European resorts, including Courchevel, Davos and St. Moritz.
Planned resort infrastructure
The AK-ALA-TASH resort is planned to be built about 8 kilometers from Cholpon-Ata. According to the published concept, ski slopes and cable cars will be located on the resort's territory.
