A year has passed since Kyrgyzstan introduced a mechanism for the voluntary ban on taking out credits and loans in one's own name. According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, between November 1, 2025 and November 1, 2026, 304,900 citizens used this option.
How the credit self-ban mechanism works
A self-ban is a free and voluntary option that allows a citizen to restrict in advance the taking out of credits and loans in their name at financial and credit organizations. The mechanism was developed to improve citizens' financial security and reduce the risk of credits being taken out without their consent.
- A self-ban can be set through the "Tunduk" app by activating the "Self-ban on lending" option and selecting a credit bureau.
- The ban takes effect immediately, while lifting the restriction occurs 12 hours after the request is submitted.
- If the service is connected at several credit bureaus, the restriction must be lifted at each of them.
Key points
The mechanism is aimed at protecting citizens from unauthorized debts. To activate the service, it is enough to enable the "Self-ban on lending" option in the "Tunduk" app, specify a credit bureau and submit a request.
