Almazbek Mambetov continues his athletic career despite his age, competing against younger and physically stronger opponents. In addition to his personal performances, he is engaged in coaching at the Manas sports complex in Kara-Balta, where two of his students are world champions.

A path into sports through boxing

Mambetov's sporting journey began in childhood in Frunze. After an incident where the schoolboy was beaten by his peers, he caught the attention of Bakyt Ryskulov, an Honored Coach of Kyrgyzstan and USSR Master of Sports in boxing, who suggested the boy join a sports section.

"It was very hard. For two weeks, I learned not to close my eyes from fear"

The first training sessions were extremely intense: the novice had to spar with older boys. After a year of training, Mambetov won the title of Chui region champion, knocking down an experienced Master of Sports in the final match.
