Despite the ongoing dialogue, Iran and the United States have not yet been able to make progress on a possible agreement. This was reported by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, according to Anadolu.
Positions of the sides and conditions for opening the Strait of Hormuz
According to Esmail Baghaei, Washington's previous position does not allow Tehran to assess the prospects for a diplomatic settlement with optimism. Nevertheless, Iran intends to continue the talks in order to protect its interests and ensure regional security.
Secretary General of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei stressed that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be opened without a number of conditions being met. He said that this requires a full and clear response to Iran's seven conditions and that they must be fulfilled.
In this regard, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman also noted that Iran's armed forces are at maximum readiness and are capable of delivering a retaliatory strike in the event of new attacks.
Diplomatic efforts by mediators
Qatar is mediating efforts to ease tensions between Washington and Tehran. It is reported that on October 30 Qatari mediators held talks with the Iranian delegation in Tehran, after which consultations continued in Doha, where the sides discussed possible ways to reach a settlement over two days.
Overall, the sides continue to exchange messages through mediators, despite the absence of visible progress in reaching an agreement.
