The service, allowing citizens to determine their burial method in advance, became available on August 4, 2026. According to Tengrinews.kz, the procedure is conducted remotely and does not require mandatory notarization.
Procedure for filing and withdrawing consent
To confirm their will, Kazakhstanis only need to use an electronic digital signature on the eGov portal. The resulting record has the legal force of a personal expression of will. However, it is important to note that having such a record is not an automatic authorization for the procedure: all sanitary rules must be observed, and forensic medical examinations must be conducted if required by law to establish the cause of death.
Decisions can only be changed during one's lifetime. A previously submitted application can be withdrawn exclusively by the citizen themselves through the same electronic service. Relatives do not have the right to cancel such consent on behalf of a deceased person.
In the event of disputes, if relatives doubt the authenticity of the electronic record or believe that legislative norms were violated during the cremation process, they may challenge the decision through legal proceedings.
Context
