The issue is driven by the need to prevent local livestock from crossing into the territory of the neighboring state. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov stated this possibility during a meeting with residents of Tokmok, as well as the Chui and Kemin districts.
Livestock crossing problem and current situation
During the meeting, the chairman of the Kichi-Kemin village council of the Kemin district raised the issue of the lack of engineering barriers on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border section. According to relevant services, barriers have already been installed on the Kazakhstan side, while the Kyrgyz side has not yet completed similar works, although they are already present in certain sections.
The absence of full fencing leads to domestic animals occasionally finding themselves on Kazakhstan territory. In such situations, the livestock are returned to Kyrgyzstan, following the established interaction rules of the border services of the two countries.
Plans to strengthen borders
The installation of engineering structures is planned for the Kyrgyz-Kazakh and Kyrgyz-Uzbek sections of the state border. Currently, the situation in different directions is as follows:
The President clarified the status of work in other directions: construction on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is already completed, while the completion of work on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek section is expected next year.
