Questions about the state of water arteries were raised during a meeting between President Sadyr Japarov and residents of Talas and Bakai-Ata districts. A resident of Yntymak village, Kozhogazy, drew attention to the problem with the Kalinin Canal.
The problem with the Kalinin Canal
According to the resident, the Kalinin Canal is 15 km long, and its passage through sandy soil leads to significant water losses. Kozhogazy noted that, despite water limits set at the district and regional levels, only about 50% of the required volume remains by the time it reaches farmers in the lower section, a problem that has persisted for many years.
Reconstruction timeline
On the question of the timeline for the work, the president asked Deputy Minister of Agriculture Asylbek Satyvaldiev to respond. According to him, the Kalinin Canal is included in the work plan, and its reconstruction is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by spring 2027.
Context
The meeting took place on November 2 in the city of Talas. The reconstruction project for the 15-kilometer canal is estimated at 160 million som.
