According to Axios, citing two sources familiar with the situation, Washington is attempting to establish a diplomatic process with Tehran. Key figures of the US administration are involved in the negotiations, including US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump advisor Jared Kushner.
Mediation and Progress of Negotiations
International mediators are being brought in to reach agreements. According to the publication, US Vice President JD Vance is in contact almost daily with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Pakistan Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir.
Currently, the parties are discussing the possibility of holding a technical meeting between US and Iranian representatives in the coming days. However, sources note that organizing this contact has not yet been successful. Despite some progress, the process is moving extremely slowly.
