The Uzbek publication Daryo devoted a video report to economic change in Kyrgyzstan, describing the country as going 'From a country of revolutions to a tiger of the region.' Journalists from the neighbouring country focused on the rapid growth of the Kyrgyz economy and sought to assess whether the republic can sustain the pace it has achieved.
Economic indicators and GDP growth
The piece examines the factors that have allowed Kyrgyzstan to approach Uzbekistan's level. Of particular interest is the shift in focus: Kyrgyzstan, once associated with political upheaval, is now viewed through the prism of its economic achievements.
According to Kyrgyzstan's National Statistical Committee, real GDP growth at the end of 2025 was 11.1 percent. The economy's size in current prices reached 1 trillion 976.4 billion som, well above the 782.9 billion som recorded in 2021. Over the period, nominal GDP in som terms increased more than 2.5-fold, though this figure includes the effect of price changes and cannot be directly compared with real growth rates.
