Following investigative and operational measures carried out on October 28, 2026, officers of Kyrgyzstan's GKNB detained a number of WDC employees at five weight and dimension control checkpoints in Chui region. According to the GKNB press service, the detained employees were placed in the GKNB pre-trial detention center.
The substance of the uncovered corruption scheme
The scheme involved taking money from heavy truck drivers. The payments were demanded in exchange for allowing vehicles to pass unimpeded even when they violated established weight and dimension standards.
Consequences for infrastructure and the state
According to the GKNB, this corruption scheme enabled heavy vehicles that violated the standards to pass unchecked. This, in turn, created the conditions for damage both to roads and to state interests.
Further actions
Further investigative and operational measures are currently under way to identify all those involved and all the circumstances connected with this unlawful activity.
