An alley of healthy trees adjacent to a kindergarten on Razzakov Street has been cut down in Bishkek. Local residents who witnessed the work reported it.

Impact of the felling on the habitat

According to city residents, equipment arrived at the site and began cutting down the trees without prior notice or explanation of the reasons. Residents stress that the greenery not only shaped the well-kept appearance of the alley but also performed important protective functions for children attending the Balastan kindergarten.

This greenery not only provided shade, it created comfort, forming an alley with tree crowns. Children attending the Balastan kindergarten were protected from dust and exhaust fumes. Now there is only bare asphalt here.

Assumptions about the reasons and the reaction of city residents

City residents suggest that plans to widen the roadway may have been the reason for the felling. However, residents also mentioned the mayor's office's statements about improving public transport, noting a skeptical attitude toward these plans.

Local residents expressed dissatisfaction with the actions, calling on the mayor's office to stop what they describe as a "barbaric attitude toward the city's greenery."
