Kyrgyzstan intends to launch production of domestic test systems for diagnosing animal diseases. Maksat Akhmedzhanov, a senior researcher at the Kyrgyz Research Institute named after Duisheev, said the developed kits have undergone comparative tests with Russian equivalents.

Test Results and Types of Diagnostics

According to the test results, the Kyrgyz test systems demonstrated comparable specificity and sensitivity indicators, and in a number of parameters even surpassed foreign equivalents.

  • The kits are intended for PCR diagnostics
  • Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • Extraction of DNA and RNA

Next Steps for Implementation

The institute is currently working on obtaining a production license. After that, the products must be registered with the Ministry of Agriculture. The test systems are expected to be supplied to diagnostic laboratories across the country.

To implement the project, design and estimate documentation is being prepared for the construction of a specialized center. Production is estimated to be able to start in 2–3 years after construction is completed.

Significance for the Economy and Security

Kyrgyzstan currently purchases such products abroad. Domestic production, according to Maksat Akhmedzhanov, a senior researcher at the Kyrgyz Research Institute named after Duisheev, will reduce costs and strengthen both the biological and food security of the country.
