The reservoir that supplies irrigation water to farmers in the village of Mramornoye in Alamudun will be returned to ayil okmotu jurisdiction. The decision came as a result of the farmers' appeal and the attention of the President of Kyrgyzstan to the problem.

Background and transfer of the facility

According to information announced at a meeting between President Sadyr Japarov and residents of Alamudun district, the reservoir, which had initially been leased to the ayil okmotu, was subsequently privatized. As a result of this process, the facility ended up in private ownership.

  • The reservoir used for irrigation became the subject of a dispute after it passed into private ownership in 2009.
  • The farmers, who use the facility for irrigation, went to court to return the reservoir to the ayil okmotu's balance sheet.
  • Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Erlist Akunbekov said that after the court ruling the facility will be transferred to the ayil okmotu's balance sheet.
