According to Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Utilities Nuradan Oruntayev, the country's development plans include drafting general plans for all populated areas. This covers all 1,830 villages of Kyrgyzstan.

Oruntayev noted that until recently general plans had hardly been developed for district centers and small towns since Soviet times. Previously such documents existed only for Bishkek and Osh.

According to the minister, work on drafting plans for rural centers and small towns is already largely complete. For example, in the Chui region alone, 10 general plans were adopted at the local level in the past week.
