Acting Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme Carl Skau praised Kyrgyzstan's development, highlighting its impressive economic growth and successes in social projects. According to him, the country is showing good results both in the economy and in its work on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Successful examples of state-international cooperation
The expert gave particular attention to the school meals program, which he called a successful example of interaction between the state and international organizations. The UN World Food Programme, drawing on 60 years of accumulated international experience, launched pilot projects together with the Kyrgyz authorities, which the Kyrgyz government subsequently decided to expand on its own.
Overall achievements and persistent risks
According to Carl Skau, additional revenues flowing into the state budget thanks to economic growth are being directed toward supporting social programs. At the same time, the UN official also drew attention to persistent challenges, in particular those related to climate change.
Carl Skau noted that Kyrgyzstan's development path is impressive and, in his view, the world has something to learn from this experience.
