The public outcry caused by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov's initiative for a complete ban on the production, import and sale of energy drinks has led to new appeals from citizens. On social media and public platforms, users are mass-calling on the head of state to consider banning the sale of alcohol, cigarettes and nasvai.

Citizens' demands: comprehensive restrictions for the health of the nation

Citizens emphasize that the harm caused by tobacco products, uncertified nasvai and alcohol exceeds the potential harm from energy drinks. According to users, the availability of these substances poses a direct threat to young people and the country's future gene pool.

Context of the original initiative

Recall that Sadyr Japarov earlier instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to work out, within a month, the regulatory framework for introducing a ban on energy drinks. At the same time, the president warned that such a restriction could lead to the loss of about 1.5 billion som in budget revenue from energy drink sales.

Experts and the business community note that any potential restrictions require a balanced analysis, since an abrupt ban on popular product categories could entail a loss of tax revenue and growth of the shadow market.
