At a meeting with residents of Aitmatov and Manas districts in Talas Region, Nuriya Myrzamakhmudova spoke about problems involving relatives in Russia. According to her, her younger brother, who went to Russia to work as a loader on August 10, was detained on his very first day on cyber fraud charges.
The situation of detained compatriots
The woman said the detention took place after someone knocked on the room where the computer was located and identified themselves as electricians, after which police entered behind them. According to Nuriya Myrzamakhmudova, a Kyrgyz national named Timur helped her brother find work and, she says, has already helped secure the detention of four other people.
Deputy Interior Minister Adylbek Biybosunov confirmed that Nuriya's brother and his wife had gone to Russia and that a certain Timur had helped them find work. He specified that local police in Tver found a SIM box installed in their apartment and that work on the case is under way, but there are difficulties because the detainee is not in Kyrgyzstan.
Other appeals from residents
Other appeals were also raised at the meeting. One resident of the region said his son was sentenced in Moscow to six years for drugs and is currently serving his term in a penal colony in Petrovka, with 1.8 years remaining. Another resident also asked the head of state to pardon her son, who is accused of fraud.
In response to the appeals, President Sadyr Japarov proposed waiting for the court's decision, after which extradition issues can be pursued.
