Reconstruction of the Bishkek — Kuntuu — Shopokov highway is currently underway near Bishkek. As part of the work, a section almost 12 kilometers long is being widened to four lanes.

Two layers of asphalt have already been laid on the 6.7-kilometer stretch. Construction workers are currently continuing work on other sections, where curbs are being installed and sidewalks and irrigation ditches built.
