From 2027, Kyivska Street in Bishkek will become "green" and adapted for electric buses

From 2027, a full reconstruction of Kyivska Street is planned in Bishkek as part of a pilot project to be called "Green Street." This was announced by Maksat Zhumabaev, head of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the Bishkek Mayor's Office.

The planned reconstruction of Kyivska Street envisages the creation of a renewed public space where changes to transport and pedestrian infrastructure will be implemented. According to statements, electric buses will run on the upgraded street.

Changes for pedestrians and cyclists

As part of the project, conditions will be created for pedestrians and cyclists. In addition, separate lanes are planned for personal mobility devices.

Planned changes in the city center

Earlier, under Bishkek's new general plan, the central section of Kyivska Street was to become a pedestrian avenue with tram service. However, the timeline for the road reconstruction work had not yet been announced.

The reconstruction of Kyivska Street will follow the concept of the "Green Street" pilot project.
