Otkurbek Rakhmanov, a supporter of former GKNB chairman Kamchybek Tashiev, has commented on the scandal that arose over the making of the Kokum-biy monument, whose cost exceeded 5 million som. Rakhmanov called for the conflict not to be given a political coloring and denied rumors that the sculpture's client is related to Tashiev.
The essence of the conflict and the supporter's position
According to Rakhmanov's statement, the dispute arose between sculptor Almazbek Okoev and businessman Abdulldabek Kochorbaev over payment for the making of the Kokum-biy monument. Rakhmanov stressed that Abdulldabek Kochorbaev has no close family ties to Colonel-General Kamchybek Tashiev.
According to Rakhmanov, the former GKNB chief has nothing to do with commissioning the sculpture, making it, or paying the fee of 5.4 million som. He called for the conflict to be resolved within the law, noting that each person must answer for his obligations.
Background to the incident
